Directions: From I-10, take US-49 South Exit 34A to Gulfport. Travel 4.7 miles to West Beach Blvd. (Highway 90). Turn right, then travel 0.2 miles to Copa Blvd. The approximate GPS address is 701 Copa Blvd., Gulfport, Mississippi.
Parking: Please follow the directions to the designated parking areas. Buses will be available to transport you to and from the commissioning pier located at the Port of Gulfport.
Handicapped Parking: Parking attendants will direct guests to park in the designated lot. Once the lot is full, guests will be directed to other nearby lots. Golf carts will be available to transport handicapped guests to and from the commissioning site pier. Handicapped vehicles must have official handicap credentials. The vehicle MUST contain the person(s) associated with the handicapped designation.
Pier Security: Each guest will require a commissioning ceremony ticket in order to enter port security to enter port property. Security precautions mandate that all invited guests are required to have a federal or state issued photo identification card (example: military identification, driver’s license, passport, etc.) for port access. Children under 16 are exempt with an adult escort. All guests will pass through a security checkpoint upon entering the pier. The security checkpoint will include metal detectors, bag inspections, and military working dogs. Guests are asked not to bring large bags, large strollers, backpacks, coolers, water, or any liquids. However, small diaper bags, umbrella strollers, and purses will be allowed. All bags, purses, wallets, backpacks, coats, etc. are subject tp search for weapons, explosives, and contraband. No weapons including knives or sharp pointed objects are allowed at any commissioning event. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding regarding these procedures required by the U.S. Navy for your safety, the safety of the crew, and the protection of the newest commissioned warship afloat.
